Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

Before I Fall - Lauren Oliver

I didn't have a chance to review this book last year because I don't know what rating will I give. First, I gave it 3 - stars and now, 1- star rating.

I was able to save my thoughts on my diary of what I think about this book. I'm hesitant to post it and most people I know love this book so much. So here goes my explanation:

Don't get me wrong, I love Lauren Oliver particularly the Delirium trilogy but this book isn't for me. It is boring and I don't like redundancy of scenes.

As you all know, the scenes repeated (for 7 times.) before the accident/her death. It is expected she'll die at the end and the twist is, those repetitive days she will try things for redemption for all her wrong doings. Realization sets in.

I hate Samantha Kingston . I'm sure she's FULLY AWARE that her friends' are bullies, yet she tolerates it and joins the club but deep inside she doesn't want to bully Juliet. Her choices suckedBIG TIME. Why correct things too late when you could have done it earlier? Where the hell is your judgment? It's just too late to apologize. I hate to say this, a part of me thinks she deserved it. Sounds cruel but payback is a bitch.

I am disappointed and frustrated on this book. I'm so glad I finished it.

The Poison Princess by Kresley Cole

Poison Princess - Kresley Cole

It's difficult for me to read this fantasy/ post-apocalyptic book since most books that I've read this year are contemporary romance novels.

The Poison Princess is an interesting book and I enjoyed its twist. There is gore, violence and action plus I like how the characters are inspired from Arcana Cards(Tarot deck). The writing style is decent, but I have mixed feelings towards the characters.

Evie Greene, I find her annoying and whiny despite having an awesome super power. I don't get her sometimes. I'm giving her a benefit of a doubt since this is all new to her. But, I'm amused with Jackson Deveaux , he's one hot, funny, flirtatious Cajun. Sorry, I'm just into bad boys. There are times I hate him for being a jerk but he's more tolerable than Evie.

Overall, it's a great read.

Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov

Lolita - Vladimir Nabokov, Craig Raine

Final rating: 3.5 stars

The subject of this book is quite awkward. Some characters are annoying at times, Humbert Humbert is obsessed with nymphets, and his affair to Lolita gave me mixed feelings. It's a tragic and an unfortunate story. I like the twist and so as Nabokov's beautiful writing style though it took me a while to get into it.

Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

Maybe Someday - Colleen Hoover

I've been a fan of Colleen Hoover since I've read Slammed, all of her books will surely give you an emotional roller coaster ride, heart wrenching lines and of course, swoon-worthy guys.

Here is one of my favorite lyrics:

"Watching him from here
So far away
Want him closer than my heart can take
I want him here I want
Maybe one of these days Someday
I'd run to him, if I could stand
But I can't make that demand
I can't be his right now
Why can't he take me away"

After reading Maybe Someday, I need to take time to compose my feelings and thoughts. I have to say that this is the most amusing, and heart-wrenching book Colleen Hoover has ever written. I cried on some parts and it's definitely a "WOW" read to me. So glad, I have a box of tissue beside me. ;) I love how complicated the story is and the writing style is so beautiful! The characters are lovable and their sense of humor are contagious. They made me laugh in different ways. gee.. I love their pranks!

Be still heart. Please , be still.

Lastly, Ridge Lawson. *swoons* What a gorgeous man with a good heart. Praises to Colleen Hoover for writing this beautiful piece! Hands down. I definitely recommend this book. If I'm going to rate this book, it will be more than 5 stars. P.S. The playlist is amazing ;)
